I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was actually staring at Sting. He had grown so much and had filled out compared to his slightly chubby state as a child. I leant across the table, getting a better look at his face. It was definitely him; the scar on his forehead still remained.
He moved back a little in his seat. “You haven’t changed a bit. It’s almost scary staring at the same woman that I met seven years ago.” He commented.
“Well imagine how I feel, one day your like twelve and then the next thing I know seven years have passed and you look like this.” I said pointing to him.
Sting laughed. “Those were a long seven years, we tried looking for you but when we heard that you had been with the others when Acnologia attacked we gave up. I never thought I’d see you again.” Sting said.
The bartender came over to us and told us that they were closing. Sting and I got up and carried out conversation outside.
“I wish it hadn’t happened. I still owe Rogue and you for that time.” I said with a smile.
Sting huffed. “Don’t worry about it. Maybe if Natsu and you had defeated Acnologia maybe then we wouldn’t have given up.” He hissed.
I raised an eyebrow at him. “What did you say?” I asked.
“You’re not a great dragon slayer neither is Natsu. You couldn’t even beat Acnologia. I have no idea why Rogue and I looked up to you guys, you’re nothing but weaklings.” Sting said looking down at me.
I grabbed him by his shirt and pulled his face down to my level and looked him in the eye. “Do you want to know something brat?” I snapped at him. “That thing that tried to kill us, that dragon Acnologia, he is my father. He raised me when no one else would. You have no idea what I’m capable of but yes I cannot defeat my father. Do you think he would be that stupid to teach me how to kill him?” I pushed him away and turned my back to him.
“I had no idea.” Sting said quietly.
“Well maybe keep your mouth shut before you start assuming things. From now on, don’t talk to me unless you’re going to apologise.” I snapped before running down the street.
I needed to clear my head. I looked down at my hands and I could see the blue and black scales forming. I was losing it; I couldn’t keep losing my temper. I shoved my hands in my pockets and slowed my pace down to a walk.
I reached my door when I saw a shadow pass behind me. I turned around and there was a male with black hair and red eyes. I stared at him; there was a possibility that it could be Rogue.
“Rogue Cheney?” I asked.
He looked at me and I saw his face fall. He looked so confused and a little overwhelmed. “(Y/N)? Is that really you?” He asked walking over to me.
“Yeah, it’s me. You’ve grown so much. It’s good to see you again.” I said pulling Rogue into a hug.
He pulled back and looked at me. “You haven’t aged a day since we last saw you. Have you seen Sting, I’m sure he would be happy to see you again.” Rogue said with a small smile on his face.
“Yeah, I’ve seen him. It didn’t end well. He opened his big mouth and called Natsu and I weak because we couldn’t defeat Acnologia. Please tell me you’re not going to hassle me about it as well.” I said.
Rogue shook his head. “I’m not like my friend. I know about Acnologia being your father. I remember Skiadrum told me about the girl he was raising. He told me about you so when we meet you that day I was a little afraid of you. I never told anyone else about you.” He explained.
I gave off a sigh of relief. “Thank you Rogue, I can see that you’re still the kinder one of the two. It’s good seeing you again.” I walked into my room.
Bridgette was sitting on the bed drinking what looked like hot chocolate. She put her cup down and looked at me with a serious face.
“Where have you been young lady? I’ve been worried sick about you.” She joked as she walked over to me.
I sat down on the floor and smiled at her. “Guess who I met?” I said.
She sat down across from me. “The man of your dreams. A man who is going to sweep you off your feet. Oh, the man who owns the fish market.” Bridgette guessed.
“No, no and uh no. Sting and Rogue those two little boys that helped me seven years ago.” I said happily.
She looked surprised. “So they are here with another guild?” She asked.
“I suppose so. I saw Rogue outside my door so I’m guessing they are in Sabertooth. They have grown up so much.” I said.
“They must be your age if not a little older. There we go (Y/N) a potential mate for you since the ones in Fairy Tail have their eyes on other girls. Imagine how strong your kids would be.” Bridgette said with an evil glint in her eyes.
I rolled my eyes. “Finding a mate is the last thing on my mind. Mating season is months away.” I said leaning against the bedside table.
Bridgette laughed. “Yeah last time you checked, seven years ago. (Y/N) mating season is a few days away.” She laughed harder.
I fell forward and covered my face. “Why didn’t you remind me earlier? Why didn’t anyone remind me?” I complained into my hands.
Bridgette patted my leg. “There, there (Y/N) just stayed focused on the games and try not to let it get to you and you will be fine.” She said.
I looked at her through my fingers. “You’re joking right. You know I lock myself away during that season. How am I meant to compete in the games when my body has other plans?” I complained curling up into a ball.
The first day of the Grand Magic Games came around; we had just managed to scrape through the Preliminary event and now we were in the actual games. I stood in the shadows of the corridor; we waited in silence for our name to be called.
Natsu nudged me in the side. I looked at him; I couldn’t quite see his face. I could make some dark outlines of his face.
“Are you ready?” He asked.
“I have no idea. I don’t know what these people are going to think of my magic.” I said quietly.
I felt an arm move around my shoulders. I turned my head and saw Gajeel. He smiled at me through the darkness.
“Show them what you’re made of.” He patted my shoulder before moving away.
We were called out. I followed blindly; I wasn’t sure who I was following. I stepped out into the light and it slightly blinded me. I heard boo’s come from the crowd. Natsu gave me a look. I knew I had to keep myself under control. I took a deep breath and held my head high.
Someone threw a bottle at me but before it could touch me it melted into a heap of blue flames on the ground. The crowd went silent. I grinned at Natsu and he returned it. I looked around us, I looked over at Sabertooth. Rogue gave me a small nod and I smiled back at him. My eyes made contact with Sting, he glared at me and I just looked away from him. The first event was announced and Gray decided to compete in it. We returned to the stand where the rest of our guild resided. I sat on the ledge and watched the games though it was not in peace. I could feel a certain someone’s eyes on me.
